About this CNA practice site

CNA Mock Test is an independent practice site for the nurse aide written test: a free deck of practice questions, a timed mock and plain-English guides, with no account to create. It is run by the people who make the practice app behind the Get the app buttons, and it has no tie to any test vendor or state registry.

What you get here, and what you don't

You get the written half of the exam to practice on: a 60-card deck where the rationale shows the moment you answer, and a timed mock drawn across all nine content areas. Each stem is short enough to read on a phone in a 15-minute break, so a break between tasks is enough for a few cards.

You don't get registration, test seats, training hours or a certificate. Those come from your state's approved training program and the vendor your state contracts with, as of Oct 2026 usually Credentia for the NNAAP, Prometric or Headmaster/D&S. The footer of every page carries the full not-affiliated notice.

From outline to answer key

How the practice questions are written

Every question is original, written in the style of the NNAAP and Prometric written tests, and none of it is copied from a real exam form. Before writing, we studied the sample items vendors have released publicly so that length, wording and difficulty feel familiar on test day.

  1. Place it on the outline

Each item belongs to one of the nine areas in the 2024 NNAAP written outline, and the 60-card deck leans the same way: Basic Nursing Skills gets the most cards, and every area gets at least three.

  2. Write it the way the test does

A short long-term-care scene, four options, one best answer. No all of the above, no NOT or EXCEPT stems, nothing above an aide's scope such as giving medications.

  3. Explain why it wins

Every card gets a 2–4 sentence rationale: the principle behind the key (safety, rights, scope, infection control, comfort) and why the most tempting wrong option loses.

  4. Answer it blind

Before the keys were compared, 194 items were answered blind, without seeing the key. The blind answers and the keys disagreed on 0 of them.

  5. Strip the giveaways

In the 60-card deck the correct answers are split evenly across A–D, 15 each, and the key is not the longest option by habit, so you can't pass on pattern-spotting alone.

Found a card you think is keyed wrong?

Send the first few words of the question through the contact page. A disputed card is pulled and re-checked, not defended.

How facts on the guides are handled

Anything that changes by state or vendor is labelled with the vendor's name and an as of Oct 2026 date. Vendor contracts move: California switched to Headmaster in 2025, and the NNAAP itself moved from Pearson VUE to Credentia.

Never printed here as a single number

  • Exam fees and retake fees: they differ by state and change often
  • A passing score: each state sets its own cut score, and you get pass or fail
  • Test dates, test sites and registration deadlines
  • A fixed list or count of skills for every state

For those, your vendor's candidate handbook for your state is the source to trust. Pack it in your bag the week of the test along with the ID that matches your registration letter for letter.
